Collection: Intractable

These pieces are a graphic representation of conditions we deal with inside of us, yet ironically far outside of our control. The twisting and turning inner mazes of tubes, veins and "tracts" where gremlins hide. Not the literal sort. At least, I think not. The prickles, pains and itches that lodge in our inner kinks and crannies. problematic to pinpoint. difficult to remedy. Rather than go specifically into things I'm dealing with personally, as someone in his mid-fifties... I'll just say it seems a part of getting older, of our own temporary nature. Our inevitable decay. That things just start to wear out. We're simply intensely complex machinery. But as of writing, our parts aren't as easily swapped out as in our homes and cars. In spite of technology, our insides not so easy to visualize in totality. So, we live in these bodies and drive them until the wheels come off, sometimes finding cures for our ailments. Other times just dealing with them as new "quirks" that we take with us into the ground.

In execution, these pieces explore different processes to achieve the end result. Different orders of layering of paint, of taping, painting, revealing and obscuring these tracts. This collection is currently in it's infancy, and more will be added over time. If all plays out as planned, there will be far more complex pieces in varied sizes and mediums. A true "collection" of intractable artifacts bringing this concept to life in various ways.

Each piece is mounted or framed in a way that is most suited for the execution and it's medium. See each listing for more detail.
