Aspens 01 - Acrylic on Panel - 16 x 20 x 1.5 inches / 40.5 x 51 x 3.8 cm - Frame included

This collection is a my take on the graphic Aspens that flourish in throughout the West, including near my home in Bend, Oregon. The black and white design of the trunks lends itself to my monochromatic style with dabs of decaying black pigment and accents of green. Their "self-pruning" process also aligns with my concepts of erasure and the evidence of the passage of time. As aspen trees become overtopped, the amount of light reaching the lower branches decreases. The dark eyes of the aspen trunks are left where side branches once lived.

Size & Framing: The dimensions of this piece are 16 x 20 x 1.5 inches / 40.5 x 51 x 3.8 cm. The painting extends around the edges of the canvas and is ready to hang with silicone coated cable. Framing is included with this painting. You have a choice of ebonized walnut, natural walnut, or white oak float frame. Note that framing may take up to two weeks.
